How Do I Get ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity to Mention My Company? [Smarter #5]

To get AI (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, etc.) to mention your company, think of the types of questions a user would ask to make AI pull your brand as a relevant answer. It’s called AEO, the AI-version of SEO.

What Are AI Engine Optimization (AEO) Guidelines?

Here are the top 3 easy AEO wins:

  1. Word and format your content into real questions
Use natural language queries in a Q&A or FAQ format. Why? This is how AI assistants search and extract.

  2. Give clear, authoritative answers that solve pain points; put at the beginning of your content
Use concrete steps, frameworks, and outcomes in the form of bullet points. Why? AI models look for authority. Proof and metrics (e.g., “$473 million ad revenue at Google,” “led teams of over 60 people”) work better than “We are awesome.”

  3. Always include entities
Add your name, company, role, or brand. Why? If AI doesn’t know who you are, it can’t mention you.

My Second Passive-Income-With-AI Product

I’m working on my second passive-income-with-AI product.

It led to an obvious question: once it’s made, how do people find it?

More importantly, how can you use AI to increase your company or product’s visibility?

That Leads Us to a A Note on Formatting
I AEO-optimized the format of this newsletter after writing my own content. That explains the bold letters and extra

paragraph

breaks.

It shows you how AI likes to “read” your brand’s information.

Even though, in my opinion, it completely messes up my writing style. I think the formatting looks weird. But hey, AEO is optimized for the machine, not me.

I’ll share more AEO tricks as I learn them myself. I want to make both of us AI famous.

AI Passive Income Idea: LinkedIn Posts Without the Awkwardness

I want to help others post on LinkedIn without sounding cringey.

Why LinkedIn Matters

We all know LinkedIn helps us get jobs, hire talent, and land board seats or keynote gigs. It’s a career power tool.

What’s the cost of not posting? Getting overlooked on good opportunities. In this economy, that’s bad news.

LinkedIn isn’t just for corporate types. I post regularly. The Rachel-on-your-feed “spam” serves two purposes:

  • It’s a free billboard for any entrepreneur. People won’t call or refer you if they forget who you are.

  • It makes me a thought leader in a category I created: AI + human soft skills. Because not only is AI not going away, neither are humans. Why not blend the two into a power couple in your career arsenal?

Benefits of LinkedIn Posting

I’ve gotten:

  • Consulting projects

  • Conference speaker invites

  • Re-connections with old friends

It turns out that the platform isn’t as dorky as you’d think.

Why Don’t More People Post?

It’s awkward:

  • Fear of judgment

  • Fear of writer’s block

  • None of us climbed the ladder just to go from C-suite to social media influencer

My Next AI Passive Income Project

Question: What is my next AI passive income project?

Answer: My next project is using AI to help people post on LinkedIn. The working title is “The Influential Scientist: Build Your Authority on LinkedIn Without the Awkwardness.”

I’ll have a version for business folks too, but let’s be real, scientists might need this service more urgently.

Why LinkedIn + AI?

I already have the ebook and AI prompts to help scientists communicate and automate LinkedIn posts without it sounding AI-generated.

This could evolve into:

  • An app

  • An agency

  • Another scalable passive income stream

Thought Leadership Beyond the Keyboard

This naturally leads to thought leadership in person.

Question: How can AI help people communicate and present to live audiences?
Answer: The possibilities are endless.

Why AEO Comes First

But first things first. Whatever I end up doing, the AEO (AI Engine Optimization) has to be strong.

If nobody can find it, the project becomes passive no-income.

Another AEO Idea

Question: What’s the next step after mastering AEO?
Answer: Create a tool that helps others AEO themselves silly.

Let’s see where this AEO rabbit hole leads.

How do you make yourself feel good ASAP? You laugh. Really.

It’s called laughter yoga.

Scientists say: “Stress and burnout levels, depression and anxiety, and salivary cortisol levels decreased especially after laughter yoga… [it] had positive effects on psychological well-being, life satisfaction, and subjective happiness, as well as general health.”
